My February (un) Budget totally sucked and i'm honestly embarrassed to even post this, but im trying to "keep it real". ;) And real is one thing I am! :P
My main goal this month was to save $560 towards my Gifts savings for the year (which excludes Christmas). Well, I saved $400 of that (yay me!) but totally dug into my EF and spent everything I saved last month towards my EF!! What an idiot I am! (ugh!)
The money I've made with my custom orders has went towards my daughters guitar lessons. I managed to save enough money for Morgans March, April, AND May lessons!! :) This thrills me to bits!
Ok, now, what did I spend my EF money on you ask?!
- Widescreen LCD tv for hubby in the bedroom.
- Inhaler for me.
- Meds for hubby.
- Organization stuff & shelving for my fabric, etc...
- Spending $$ for hubby to go to an NHL game in the U.S.
- Food, since I left myself short this month.
All of this totaled $1000.00! Just like that! Poof!! Gone! :( Sad aren't I?!
In the last 2 days including my pork order I've spent $400 on food! But we REALLY needed to fill up... Our freezer was sad & empty. I can't have that, it makes me nervous.
So... My goal for March is to (once again) build back up my EF. I don't want to screw myself over though so I'm going to aim for $800 in savings, $160 a week since its a 5 pay month! *If* I can come up with an extra $200 from custom orders etc, during March, i'll throw it into my EF as well. Ideally I would like to move our EF savings into my main bank account in order to save on bank fees, $8.95/month, but I need to see if I can have it in an account "branched off" from our main account so I don't see it in our main account all the time and still bypass the monthly banking fees.
My March budget rules will be:
- Cook from scratch as much as possible!
- Try to buy NO convenience food or snacks.
- Ask hubby & kids what baked goods they'd like for the week & bake/freeze on the weekends.
- Menu Plan. (blah!)
- Plan meals from sale items, freezer, & pantry then buy only what's on my list!
- Stick to budget! $140/week food, $25/week entertainment, $35/week misc.
Ok, I think that about covers my sad, sad excuse for a budget this month. If anyone sees me buying fabric in March, slap me. (*blush*)
I'm off to Disney on Ice with the girls then back to continue working on my "to-do" list! Enjoy your Saturday!! :)
