Today I'll be reviewing Max Lucados new book, "Grace: More than we Deserve, Greater than We Imagine".
God's grace has a drenching about it. A wildness about it. A white-water, riptide, turn-you-upside-downness about it. Grace comes after you. It rewires you. From insecure to God secure. From regret riddled to better-because-of-it. From afraid to die to ready to fly.
Grace is the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off.
Here's a description of the book:
"Grace.
We talk as though we understand the term. The bank gives us a grace period. The seedy politician falls from grace. Musicians speak of a grace note. We describe an actress as gracious, a dancer as graceful. We use the word for hospitals, baby girls, kings, and premeal prayers. We talk as though we know what grace means.
But do we really understand it? Have we settled for wimpy grace? It politely occupies a phrase in a hymn, fits nicely on a church sign. Never causes trouble or demands a response. When asked, “Do you believe in grace?” who could say no?
Max Lucado asks a deeper question: Have you been changed by grace? Shaped by grace? Strengthened by grace? Emboldened by grace? Softened by grace? Snatched by the nape of your neck and shaken to your senses by grace?
God’s grace has a drenching about it.
Let’s make certain grace gets you."

I was so excited to have a chance to review Max Lucados "Grace: More than we Deserve, Greater than We Imagine". I've always loved listening to his devotionals as I find him very inspiring. This book is in two words, simply wonderful! We all look for grace in others, try to extend grace to others, and long for others to show us grace in those moments when we need it most.
Max shows us how we have already received grace through Jesus Christ and all we need to do is accept it, embrace it, and pass it on to others! We have soo much to share with others and if we look & search, through Gods leading we can find so many areas in our life to share & show grace in our daily day to day life. Through our thoughts, our words, our actions, to our friends, strangers, thse in need, and yes, even to our 'enemies'. Those who have hurt us, let us down, said hurtful words to us, betrayed us, etc... we can, and should, show them Grace as well.
In the end of this inspiring book there's a 12 week program called the "Readers Guide" by Kate Etue. You cab work through this Bible study independently or in a small group. There is a "scripture review", "ask", "call on God", & "explore grace shaped living". Some of the focus areas in the study are:
- The Grace Filled Life
- The God Who Stoops
- O Sweet Exchange
- You Can Rest Now
- And 8 more wonderful & inspiring chapters.
In the end, this book is a keeper & one you'll want to share! Buy yourself a copy because you'll want to read it over & over again. Then buy one for a friend, a family member, or an acquaintance whom you think would benefit from Gods Grace as well! :)
