The lighting in our living room is horrid. We have 2 table lamps, and really only room for one.
Here's what our living room looks like at night if the Tv isn't on, which usually, it isn't...

Not so bright huh? lol!! It makes it VERY difficult to read, to sew, to play a board game, or to do any type of crafts of night, or really, anything that needs light. lol!
For years i've wanted to buy Ottlites, but they're quite expensive, so I just never looked into them. My grandma has three and raves about them, says she wouldn't trade them for the world. She's changed the lightbulb once in 15 years, and the others not at all!! I've heard other crafters raving about them as well.
Look at the difference between regular lighting and Ottlight lighting!! I'd actually be able to take photos at night with *true* colouring!!
I'm sick of not being able to see at night, since regular lamps and floor lamps do *nothing*, so I finally bit the bullet and ordered myself a couple of Ottlites. I will call them my birthday present. ;) (Thanks hubby! lol!)
I searched a bunch of stores in Canada for the best price and found that The Shopping Channel was the way to go for the lamps I liked best and had by far the best prices, even with shipping!
I bought the Ottlite Preston Floor Lamp on sale for $69.95 down from $149.99... (less than 1/2 price!) It can range in height from 45-57" and has a full adjustable arm & head. It's made of wood and brushed nickel, so I really like the looks of these ones for the living room more so than the all metal ones. I love flexible arm as it'll make this lamp very versatile!!
I also bought the Ottlite Preston Table Lamp on sale for $69.95 down from $99.99... this lamp ranges in height from 15"-28" and again has the fully flexible arm and head.
In total after shipping & taxes, they came to $178.08, I saved $110.00 off of the regular prices. Pretty good!! The money is coming out of our slush fund, leaving it at just a little over $1500.00 for now. I do think i'm going to be quite happy with them and am excited to see them & try them out! I'll definitely post an update when I receive them! :)
Do you work on crafts or read in the evening? Do you find your lighting sufficient? If you have an Ottlite, do you like it?
