So... apparently men are *VERY LITERAL*. When I posted about wanting this guy, I was just meaning that he was cute type of thing.. know what I mean? Hubby did not. ;) Guess what i'm the proud new owner of? Yup... you guessed it, a chameleon! Isn't he sooo cute! I came home from visiting grandma with the girls and was SHOCKED to see the chameleon and all the bells & whistles on my kitchen table. The girls were jumping up & down with pure excitement... I on the other hand was a bit more reserved. It's still processing... he cost a LOT of money for everything, and is going to take a lot of time for the upkeep, etc...
Hubby used his "soon to be" tattoo money for this gift... in total $611! *faint* So, he will not be getting money from income tax for ink. It will be padding our slush fund once again. I've also asked him not to make anymore BIG purchases without our discussing it. Granted he just wanted to make me happy & surprise me, (which is certainly did! lol!!) and he was so selfless to put a gift for me before his own 'wants', I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I wasn't expecting it and all the work that goes along with it. Anyways, he's super cute and i'm adjusting to the care of keeping of a chameleon. "Husbandry" as it's called...

The girls of course *LOVE* him, but i'm still trying to sort everything out... he's currently residing in front of my fireplace, (I need to buy light stands as there is nowhere to hang them) it's the only place he'll fit, but in about a years time he's going to be about 2ft. long and I honestly have NO idea where to put him. We're going to need a bigger cage, more 'stuff' for him in the cage, etc. He only eats live bugs (crickets, worm type things) that i'll need to pick up with my hands to "dust" in calcium and then use my hands AGAIN to put them in his bowl. Another thing is I don't want to be walking back & forth to the pet store for bugs 3 times a week, and don't want a "bug farm" in my house either.
The kids have decided on naming him "Treecko" after a pokemon characater... good choice I think! ;) lol!
Honestly, I thought about taking him back, but i'm torn. I'll feel bad as the girls are already attached, (they said it's too late to take him back 'cause they named him, lol!!) I don't know if they'd take him back or not, but I really wasn't ready or prepared for a pet like this and all the work that goes along with it. But he's really sweet... We have a cat. Cat's are about the easiest pet you can get... I guess besides goldfish. ;)
Sooo... I don't know. Anyways, I need to head to PetValu as I need to talk through this and figure out what i'm going to do. And if I keep him then I need to pick up more supplies...
What should I do? I'm stumped... *sigh*
