Five Frugal Things...

***

  1. I earned a $5.00 Gift Card by shipping with FedEx over the last month. I had no idea they even had a promo going on, but by shipping a couple pkg's with them through this Canada Post mess I earned one! I received an email today telling me about it, so once I receive it, I'll tuck it aside and save it as a stocking stuffer!
  2. I said "no" to the girls. They really wanted me to order Pizza Pizza for dinner tonight, but I told them I had used up most of this week's budget and there was not enough left in our budget for ordering in. In turn Mya piped up, "you spent ALL the money in your bank account too!?!", (oh ye of little faith) which she then got a little spiel about "that money is for other stuff like bills". LOL! Since we're all saving up for a house/moving expenses they're interested in "how much we have" so when I do my budgeting, they tend to look over my should to see "how much" we have. This saved me a good $35.00 I'd say!
  3. I decided to use our weekly budget to purchase an upcoming birthday & Christmas gift instead of taking it from our slush fund - where it would usually come out of. We didn't have a very spendy week so our budget went far this week!
  4. I made a couple purchases on Amazon this week and went through Ebates each time to earn cash back on my purchases for the double cash back event!! Love Ebates!! I've earned $338.11 with Ebates since I've been a member! They pay out in CASH every few months straight to my Paypal account! It's *well worth* looking into & joining if you shop online!
  5. We've been eating all of our leftovers! I've been trying to hard to stay on top of this as I hate food waste! We spend so much on food so to feed it to the garbage can is unfortunate! Mya ate retried spaghetti for a few days 'cause she loves it so much. Taco meat was used on tacos and in eggs. Leftover pork was used in savoury pancakes. All saving us money on our grocery bill in the end!

And those are my "Five Frugal Things" for the week, not bad!

What are your Five Frugal Things for the week?

Mmmmm... Can you smell that sweet baby smell?

I almost can!! On my sewing table today I'm working on an organic baby quilt made with Cloud9's new "Spring Walk" line. My customer wanted something 'gender neutral', earthy, and natural. I knew Cloud9 was the fabric to fit! With this fabric being 100% organic cotton, someone who is very natural will absolutely appreciate these fabrics and adoralbe natural colours & prints!

First up, cutting all my HST's... Pretty little scraps all bundled up to the side!

Sewing all my squares together together so I can press them & turn them into pinwheels...

I probably would get more done if closed my iPad and concentrated *just* on sewing, and some days I tend to chat a bit more than I probably should! *blush* I think after I'm done this blog post I'll shut down so I can get a handful of these pretty blocks done today as I still have another pile of fabric sitting on my desk that I wanted to get all cut today for my next order! No time to waste!

Perfect points on this one! Love this sweet & simple design... It's going to be simple, fresh & absolutely adorable when it's complete! I'm still debating on the quilting, but I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to do!

On that note I'm off to get another good hour of sewing in before I need to start dinner prep! I'll be back later on today with another non-sewing related post... Enjoy your day!

We join in this Monday already in Progress...

Good morning! Just a quick post for now.... I have my sewing schedule written out for the week and hope I stay on track! Lots of sewing is on my list for the week so I may have to set my alarm to sneak in some sewing in before the kids are up, or the other option is some late night sewing which I'm not really fond of doing anymore. I'd much rather sew earlier in the morning then later in the evening.

I have to run out this morning to Wal-Mart for a few things - we are almost out of a few things and can't go without veggies & eggs! I also need to grab a few things for my FIL and do a quick bank run. When I get back I'll have to make lunch for the kids, figure out something for my breakfast then hopefully have a very productive afternoon and can cross that wristlet set off of my sewing list & figure out one more smaller item to make with my Zoey & Bean fabric bundle!

Switching gears: I decided to go with this Dirt Devil Ultra handheld corded vacuum. It has a lot of really good reviews so I'm hoping it fits what I need it for. If not, I'll take it back... But I have high hopes. I didn't want to spend upwards of $200 or so on a handheld as I already have a full sized Dyson, but need something small & portable for some areas and little messes. For $43.00 & taxes, I'm willing to give it a go anyways...

Does anyone have this little guy? If so, opinions?

And on another note, we're on track with our budget for the week which is a good thing, so I'm ending August on a good note! I hit my savings goals this month (blew past them actually!), and we'll end the month on track and ready for September! If things go well this month, I just may be able to hit my New Years goal early!! Not this month, but perhaps in November sometime!! I'll share more on Thursday on how we did this month and what September looks like along with my September savings goal!

Well I should run - time to start being productive! Enjoy your day!!
