Mischief English Paper Piecing Quilt Kit by TheDIYAddict.com

Good morning! We are having a snowy weekend here, a few days ago we had no snow at all, but it seems like winter has returned along with -20c temps. Brr!!
So instead of freezing outside, I've been keeping myself warm & busy at home with my new "Mischief English Paper Piecing Quilt Kit"!! This fabulous kit is right up my alley because we all know how much I love epp'ing & "slow sewing" projects! I've decided to start with a smaller projects however, which is totally fine because as long as you're careful with your papers you can use them over and over again without issues! There are 4 variations to the quilt kit to choose from, which I think is pretty awesome & makes this ki
The acrylic templates make cutting fabrics to match a breeze! And are absolutely *ideal* for fussy cutting little images as well! All the guesswork is gone, simply place the acrylic template over your image and cut! Done!!

The papers are all precut to perfection for you, but I do like to add a hole with my hole punch to center of all my paper pieces before I baste them as it makes getting the papers out much easier. You simply pop them out and your edges stay smooth & clean! No digging around the edges to get your papers out! I tuck the end of my slim Hera maker in there, give it a little swirl and *pop*! Done!

I prefer to baste my fabrics with thread but some simply glue stitch their papers around the edges. For myself, I enjoy the traditional method and will stick with a thread & needle. As for which thread I use, Superior Threads "The Bottom Line" thread is AMAZING!!! I will *NEVER* go back to using another type of thread for epp'ing again. Ever. I was actually featured in the Superior Thread newsletter recently!
I always had issues with knotting, threading, shredding, snapping, etc... since I've switched over to using the "The Bottom Line" thread, I've had absolutely NO issues, not even once!! As you can see, I'm a die hard fan! It's worth hunting down... If you're in Canada, I purchased my thread from Nulagh at "Stitch in the Ditch", she has wonderful service & products to choose from!

This block honestly took me a few hours to complete, (like I said, slow sewing) but it's worth the time & effort as this is going to be a gift and I just know it's going to be well loved! Yesterday it was so bright & sunny I sat at my desk working on this block so I could soak up the suns rays!! I felt like this plump little cat on my hexie block, all curled up and warm!

The last step of this project was to appliqué the block onto my quilted linen pouch! So that was what I worked on last night, snuggled under my quilt on the couch!!

I decided to hand stitched with a pretty Aqua variegated perle cotton around my block to complete the pouch while I had my morning coffee... absolutely love how it finished it off so nicely!

And my completed pouch is complete & ready to be gifted!! I really enjoyed making this block and love the fact that you can use the Mischief English Paper Piecing Quilt Kit for smaller items and projects along with a full sized quilt! I can see myself making a mini quilt in the near future with this fabulous kit... stay tuned!

And with that my friends, I'm off for now! My "weekend to do" list is calling my name...
