I love productive days... like today!

This morning started out with putting away groceries with the kids (Dh did most of the grocery shopping for me, yay!) then after the groceries were all put away I had my coffee, checked my email and private messages, then finished off my last 2 March custom orders!
Two scrapilicious, large patchwork pouches! I love them both, as do the recipients thankfully!

And another pretty patchwork pouch, but in a different colour scheme...

After the pouches were completed I ended up having to run out for a few groceries and a bank run for my Father-in-Law, so I grabbed a few more items we needed and came back home to find these beautiful linens that I purchased on Etsy! I am absolutely in love with both of these prints and just know they are going to make the cutest pouches, and wallets, and whatever else I can dream of to make with these!!

This one cat linen below I adore soooo much!!! I'm definitely a cat person, and this I think is going to be a popular print!!

I drooled on my new fabrics for a little while, ate some breakfast and got back to work!

On some Quilt Market sewing for the Spring 2017 show!! Only, I can't show you anymore than this little sneak peek for now! In a few weeks I'll be able to share a few more pics, but since the fabric hasn't been released and is top secret, my lips are sealed! But it is absolutely ADORABLE!!! I can't wait to share more and what I'm making with my bundle of goodness!!

Lastly, I made a mens cork leather wallet that I *REALLY* like and I think it's going to be a hit! My husband has absolutely no "feminine side" and he says this one is great, so I think I have it finally! I have a stack precut to be made for the Spring Merry Makers Fair, which should be perfect timing with Father's Day a month or so after the craft fair!

Before anyone asks, the wallet is a mash up of a couple different elements & patterns I've found, so I have no pattern to share for this one!

And now that my customs are complete, I have a few sewing goals that I'd love to accomplish this weekend!

  1. Project #1 for Spring Quilt Market.
  2. A stack of mens cork leather wallets ready to list for sale ASAP!
  3. A little bit of epp work. I have another Mischief Quilt block on the go and a design team project for DailyLike Canada!
  4. I need to clean & oil my JUKI.
  5. Wipe down and declutter my sewing area. The top of my desk is dusty and I have too much on the go so it's getting cluttery - which drives me slightly insane.

I am debating if I want to head over to KnitStitch tomorrow for a bit... well, I definitely want to go, but it takes quite a while to get there & to get back, so I'm not sure. I may push it off till next week, but it would be nice to get out for a while if the day is nice and the sun is shining!! See which of the kids want to come with me!

And on that note, I'm off! I haven't eaten dinner yet (oopsie!) so I'm going to eat something, watch some Home & Garden and head to bed eventually...

I hope everyone had a great day, back soon!

Budget Thursday...

***

I haven't posted a "Budget Thurday" post for a while, so I thought that I'd post a few financial things that are happening for us!

I just finished off our budget for the month of March and overall things went well. Nothing out of the ordinary or crazy expensive happened thankfully! Our down payment on the house is still intact, Emergency Fund is intact and our slush fund is good as well.

  • I was able to add $500.00 to our savings account this month. Yay!
  • I splurged on tickets to see Green Day with Dh this month as we hadn't been out together for a date night in forever, and we both loved Green Day! I was surprised to get such amazing tickets at literally less than an hour before the show began! The show was awesome, and the tickets were worth every single penny!
  • Our slush fund (sinking funds) is sitting over my comfort level of $1K, which is a good thing.
  • I need to pick up another bolt of Pellon interfacing next week and that's going to be a tidy little chunk of change. I'll probably grab a bit of fabric from KnitStitch when I go as well, but then that's it fabric-wise for me this month. Suzanne has been posting new pretties from the shop, and since I know fabric is my Kryptonite, so I am planning on shopping a *wee* bit... but am going to give myself a cap!
  • I was able to grab a set of 4 tickets to see "Emma" by Jane Austen at the Grand Theatre in May with some extra sewing income I made this month! I hope my youngest 2 enjoy it! It's a bit different than what I'd usually take them to see, but they love live theatre as much as I do, they've been begging to go again, so I think they'll love it all the same! We saw "Sense & Sensibility" at the Grand a few years back and loved it!
  • Both of the girls have birthdays in April, so when you add Easter into that, it's an expensive month. Thankfully their gifts have already been purchased, however, I still need cakes and Mya wants to go miniature golfing & bowling for her birthday with a friend. $$$
  • Our Hydro & water bill was the lowest that its been in eons. It was just under $200.00, which for us is amazing and put $100.00 back into our budget. Hydro costs in Ontario are disgusting... don't get me started. I was amused to see that Kathleen Wynne's approval rating sits at barely 12%. I'm surprised it's even that high, but I guess her family still approves of the job she's done driving Ontario into the ground with her disgusting hydro costs!
  • I hope to add some unique items to my RTS (ready to ship) album this month to keep our slush fund at a respectable level. Extra income on my part would definitely help with this. With my customs closed now till mid-May, some RTS sales would be wonderful! I may take on the odd custom order this month, but not many at all.
  • I need to get our taxes done next week with a refund on the way back to us! That'll cost a bit of $$ as well. We need to pay our life insurance for the year with the refund, then have a plan on what to do with the remainder! (More on this once I see what our magic # is)

I need to sit down and plan our April budget tomorrow so I have numbers planned for the girls birthdays, a savings goal in mind for the month, along with any other planned spending ahead. I hope to keep our grocery spending reasonable this month with a menu plan to help along with that goal! Ideally April will end with our savings account a little plumper and our slush fund still sitting over my magic number comfort level!

On that note, it's uber late and I'm crazy tired. So I'm off for the night... I didn't finish my customs that I had planned on finishing today, so first thing in the morning I'm completing the 2 patchwork pouches I was working on and crossing them off my list for some selfish sewing this weekend!

How was your April financially? Good, bad or downright ugly?

Wednesday Things...

***

Yesterday was a very nice & relaxing day... I pretty much did nothing at all for the first time in a long time! I did manage to get 2 English paper piecing panels sewn together, one of them being the "Mischief Quilt" block above. I now have 6 blocks done.. out of a gazillion. I also hand stitched together a hexie panel with Liberty of London hexies I had from a swap on IG. I'm either going to use them on a mug rug or a zipper pouch, I haven't quite decided yet!

Today it's back to business however! I have just 3 custom orders left on my list and I'm done... my goal was to have all my customs crossed off my list for April 1st, so I'm definitely on track for that! Tonight I have a wallet to make, and tomorrow I have 2 patchwork pouches on my list and then I am *FREE*. April is absolutely FULL with craft fair prep, Spring Market sewing, swaps, design work, etc... so I intend to be very productive next month!

I've already completed a passport wallet today along with pkg'ing up a couple orders to pop in the mail! I have a lot of running around to today and I'm debating if I want to go today or wait... but it needs done. I have 5 places on my list I need to and one of them in a Gvmt office, so we could be there forever & a day depending on how busy they are. However going out means that it'll take up most of my day. I have lots too do here and lots to do out. And in order for me to run out for a few hours I have to make sure everything is lined up for the kids while I'm gone. It's honestly double the work for me to go out... lol! No wonder I'm such a homebody!

Ahhh... I think I'm going to head out for the afternoon. I need some fresh air & sunshine... plus, one of my pit stops is KnitStitch... so I can do a wee bit of retail therapy. *wink*

Enjoy your day!!
