July 2nd...

***

I was up far too early today... at 4:25 am my body decided that 4 hours of sleep was plenty enough. It's not - and I'm sure it's going to be a very long day...

Although the clouds are dark, it's promising to be a beautiful day today... still calling for storms (as it does almost every day lately) but it's going to be sunny & warm today all the same!

It's Dh's birthday today so I pulled out a huge pkg of back ribs from the freezer i've been saving to make for his birthday dinner! He worked last night and he works tonight, so we won't really see him much at all, but at least he'll have a delicious dinner, right? He received his birthday present a few months ago, so no gifts for the poor guy today! He'd been wanting an iPad Pro 12" and we combo'ed it for his Father's Day & Birthday gift 'cause it cost a fortune!

I need to run to the grocery store today to get stuff to bake a cake & some other odds & ends for the week. I think I will probably run out this morning before it gets too hot and the storms roll in. Maybe the walk will wake me up as well...

The last few days I haven't been able to eat or drink much at all, not sure if it's stress & nerves or what. I'm not much of an eater to begin with, so when I'm overwhelmed, it's something that isn't a priority. I decided to try to start my day with a coffee this morning as I have a throbbing headache from not having coffee over the last few days. The need is real... lol!

I think i'm going to take some time today to sew something "just because" as it's been a while since I've sewn something simply because I wanted to. No idea what I'll sew, so I'll have to wait for inspiration to strike I think! Definitely something with patchwork goodness though!

And I can use one of the pretty new zipper charms that my sister brought over for me yesterday. Isn't this a fabulous bag of goodness!? So many pretties in here and gorgeous new butterfly zipper charms that I've never had before!!

On the topic of sewing I need to sort my scrap bins out today, especially the one that sits on my desk as it'll end up toppling over soon as it's over 8" high at this point. I may put together a few scrap envelopes later as well... watch for those if you love playing with gorgeous scraps for patchwork items!

Child #2 planted wildflowers for me in a window box by my sewing desk window and they're starting to bloom. They're such delicate little things, but so pretty! I love them!

Last night the kids & I decided to head downtown for the fireworks and wow... they were incredible and it was absolutely PACKED!!! It was amazing to see so many people downtown though, laughing and chatting to each other just having a wonderful time! All people, all colours, all religions, all ages, simply enjoying the night and being thankful to live in this amazing country of ours where we all accept each other with open arms without judgement and hate. I for one am grateful to be Canadian!!

After the fireworks were done my plan was to call a cab, but stupid Telus for some reason decided that my $43.75 credit that I had on my phone was "expired" which makes absolutely NO SENSE so I'm going to call them today to give them today to let them know I'm NOT impressed. I had stopped the automatic withdrawls on my plan (Pay as you Go) as we're moving in 5 weeks and I'll probably not bother with a cell phone) and when I did that it said I had a $43.75 credit to use before July 31st (I'll never use it all) but all the same, for some reason last night I had absolutely NO time on my phone and was stuck downtown with the kids at 11pm. Fun stuff...

We ended up walking around for a bit and hailed a cab driving down the main street of downtown London. However, the roads were SO congested from the fireworks that it took us forever to get home and the cab ride cost me $40.00 instead of the under $20.00 it usually would have cost me. Brutal!!

By the time we got home it was late and the kids were exhausted and starving. Me not having the energy to cook decided to order pizza for everyone... soo, $60 later, last night was a $100 celebration night. LOL! I hope they had a blast 'cause I wasn't counting on that lump from our budget for the week. Ah well.. tis life!

On that note i'm off for now. I think I'll go dig into those fabric scraps so I can at least cross something off my list for the day... I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!
