New winter coat! And socks. LOL!!

With Mya being in school now I'm in & out of the house much more than I used to be, and with winter on the horizon, I really wanted to find a WARM jacket that I could easily layer with, that covered more of my body than my current jacket covers. I think I'm now definitely less about "style" and more about "what's going to get me through the winter warm!"

While I was out today with my friend doing our errands and grocery shopping we popped into Marks to find the jacket above as I wanted to try it on for size. We couldn't find it anywhere and the first sales associate said "Oh it could be in the back room, we get new stuff in all the time, so you can check back in a few days." Not exactly what I had in mind... we ended up finding a manager (pretty sure anyways) and asked her if she had that jacket in the back. She asked for my size then popped into the back for a few minutes and came out with an adorable bright red jacket in a size small. I literally never buy bright colours for myself, I'm pretty muted and tend to lean towards greys, khakis etc, but when she brought out this cherry red jacket, I took it as a sign and went for it. It's absolutely adorable and matches my new BOGS. I had to go a *full size* up for my BOGS, an 8 in order to wear them with thick socks, just in case you're considering new BOGS!

I loved it instantly. It's not crazy puffy, it's super heavy, and the canvas fabric is exactly what I had hoped for!! It's called the T-Max HD1 Water Repellant Parka and it's really nice! It has amazing reviews on the website so I'm pretty happy with my choice. I did subscribe to their newsletter to save 10% on my order so used that code today and saved $23.00 in total.

My current jacket is definitely warm, it's down feathers and quite expensive, but it's pretty sleek and doesn't accomplish what I need in a winter jacket. It hasn't been worn much so I'm going to list on local FB groups and hope to recoup some of what I spent on my new winter jacket today. It's a gorgeous jacket, but with my walking most places, I need something "more" I've come to realize! This is my Spyder jacket below... love it, but doesn't cut it for the winter ahead I think.

While I was at Marks I also splurged on a couple pairs of new socks... I was looking at some cute socks on the other side of these when the man in front of me said, "Don't get those, get the ones on the other side, they're $1.00 more but so worth it", I took his advice and grabbed a pair and told him this would be my first winter in Cape Breton. He said, better grab a 2nd pair then, you'll never take them off. LOL!!

And so there we are! 2 pairs of new socks and they look soo luxurious! I may be adding these to my Christmas wishlist!

We were out until it was almost time to pick up Mya, I had time for a bowl of grapes and then I was back out the door. Then home to feed everyone, have a coffee & another snack and now it's 5:30pm and I need to pkg up a bunch of mini oil pouches to mail tomorrow (I had hoped to mail today but I was too exhausted to pkg and label them all last night, so I'll do a mail run tomorrow instead). Then I'm in the mood to sew a bit I think, just have to decide what I want to sew... I do have one small custom on my list and one big custom which I'll probably start tomorrow, but tonight I think I'll just go with the flow.

On that note I'm going go pkg my orders and see how productive I can be tonight!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day! Thanks for popping in!
