It's an absolutely beautiful day here on Cape Breton Island and we decided to get out and enjoy it! We went for a nice long walk to the library, stopped in a few shops and picked up a few items I needed. Downtown here is very small, and there are not really a lot of shops, but there's enough.
We stopped by a clothing shop called "Escape Outdoors" as I was hoping to find a heavy flannel shirt for myself, but had no luck. I found some really nice ones for men, and if they had extra small I'd have just chosen one of them, but the smallest size they had was a large, and that would have been huge. So no go! They did have a great selection of high quality clothing, and if I had money to burn I'd have purchased a 2nd and 3rd pair of Blundstone boots in burgundy and grey as they were soo gorgeous, (lol!) but since I already have a pair that I'm hoping last me for years & years, there was nothing I honestly needed so we left empty handed.
There's a "Dollar & More" type store here downtown which is kind of like a "general store" as they seem to have some of everything. We grabbed a few kitchen items we needed and I found 2 prs of thick heavy duty work socks for Dh. It's hard to find him heavy socks for work to wear in his steel toed shoes that last, but these ones seem perfect! 2 pairs for $8.99 is pretty good so I'll have to take another look next time for more if he likes these ones so we can toss some of his worn socks. Oh I also found those "mermaid pillows" which everyone is going crazy for, and Mya begged for one, but I vetoed it. I may grab her one for Christmas though... *wink* I'm going to post a video on my IG account if you want to see what I'm talking about!
Onwards, this is our cute library downtown, it's not very big, but there are lots of books to choose from and the librarians are amazingly sweet & super helpful! And like other libraries, they pull books from other libraries in the same system. The librarian told me that every Saturday afternoon they have story time and craft time so I'm going to have to take Mya next weekend hopefully! She'd enjoy that a lot!
We also stopped at Granny's Country gift shop. Mya & I absolutely loved it when we went, so we were anxious to visit again!
I bought some home decor items as per my cute little display photo at the beginning of my blog post. The candle smells sooo good! We purchased 2 candles, salted caramel and cider apple! I figure we'll leave this as our coffee table home decor until November.
It was a nice afternoon out & about and the weather was absolutely gorgeous today! So after we ate dinner we went back out again for another walk to enjoy the end of the day. We're home now relaxing while we watch some tv. I have some Thanksgiving dinner prep to do for tomorrow and i'm going to work on my handstitching panel again tonight until I send Dh off to work.
On that note I'm off... I hope everyone had a wonderful day!!
