A "Star Wars" pencil case I made today...
I knew that moving back to London would be financially straining on us, and it has been. But still, we're making a go of it, and so far, so good. Well, good enough anyways! Bills are being paid and there's food on the table. Needs are being met, and I'm truly grateful. There's not really anything "extra", but I'm ok with that right now. I don't regret moving back even for one second. The minute we landed in London my depression all but dissapeared. And I've been so happy since moving back. Even though things are very tight financially I have faith that things will all work out in the end.
Today I spoke with my sister on the phone for an hour about this & that, and she's coming to visit me this week. After chatting for a while she says, "I'll let you go instead of babbling your ear off", I said to her, "that's ok, that's why I moved back!", she laughed at me but I totally meant it 100%. I love that we can hang out again and she can just "pop over". That is such a good thing!
Yesterday I had a crazy long work day, I put in 12 hours, 12 L-O-N-G hours of work and when my alarm went off this morning I absolutely couldn't make my body move from my warm, comfortable bed. So I turned off my alarm and decided to give my achy & sore body a bit more rest... today was just as busy and I didn't get down to my sewing room until almost 1pm. I thought I was doomed but I ended up being very productive in a semi-short amount of time and knocked a custom order off of my list along with a few RTS items - 2 pencil pouches (1 above, the other on my FB page and a couple of keyfobs). I made a few sales today which made me very happy and will tuck that $ into my budget for the month!
Honestly, i'm debating on using a cash budget this month so we stay on track. It's far too easy to 'tap/swipe' my debit card and go over budget. Does anyone still 'live on cash' out there? We will have a strict budget until Dh is able to get full-time hours again, so staying on track with a budget is a must. I also desperately need to get a menu plan on track for February. We have almost everything we need for the house now, bills have been settled from Nova Scotia, etc... I haven't found a coffee table yet, nor a square ottoman. Not a big deal, they'll have to wait. I'm currently using my "InstantPot" box as a coffee table... haha! Super classy right!? Oh well... none of my friends & family would care one bit, so who cares? I figure we'll get one in time or figure something out. I still haven't opened that box yet... for some reason I'm nervous to use it!? I have no idea why, but this month, I'm going to crack open that box and make some meals in that InstantPot once & for all! Who has an InstantPot here? If you do please share your favourite recipe/tips with me!
Tomorrow, Mya has a dentist appointment and we have absolutely ZERO medical and dental coverage now - I could cry. She has a small cavity which we need to take care of! It's her first one, poor thing! Hopefully her last! I'm figuring this appointment will cost me about $300+ out of pocket. That's painful. I feel for people who have no medical and dental coverage, it's brutal. When Dh needs his prescriptions refilled again we'll be done for... LOL!! His are expensive and I'll probably cry. For real. Thankfully the kids are all covered now, as in Ontario most prescriptions are covered for those under 25 years!
Well it's getting late and I absolutely cannot ignore my alarm tomorrow morning as I am out for most of the day! Thanks for popping in! I hope things are good for you too!
