Y’all didn’t know I was a Sheriff in my spare time!?
Five Things Friday!

Our summer fun...

The kids have forever wanted a swimming pool. This year we decided to let them have one... so now we are in the process of getting it set up for the summer! We had our yard guys level out the ground; where the pool is there must have been a garden before and the soil was good so it was a great spot for the pool. We still have lots of our yard left to enjoy, with the nice addition of a swimming pool!

We won’t be going anywhere this summer at all... except to whatever London has to offer, which is usually fabulous! Lots of outdoor concerts & festivals which we’ll enjoy together! But other than that, we won’t be going anywhere!

So we set up the pool with help and have started to fill it up... i’m hoping that the filter system will get set up tomorrow. We’ve decided to go with a saltwater filter system rather than the chlorinated system. Saltwater has numerous benefits which I like:

  • Because they have lower chlorine levels, salt water pools are much gentler on the eyes and skin.
  • Research indicates that salt water systems may be safer than chlorine pools, which force owners to store and handle unsafe chemicals. Likewise, studies suggest that regular exposure to heavily chlorinated swimming pools could pose long-term health risks.
  • Salt water pools also produce softer-feeling water, which many find desirable.
  • Because the salt cells produce enough chlorine as needed, the pools require far less maintenance when compared to traditional chlorinated swimming pools.

We had to run to Canadian Tire this afternoon for a few things... salt, outdoor extension cord, etc... Then we grabbed some jumbo pool noodles and Mya grabbed a pair of googles. Hot pink with rhinestones. This kid... hahaha!!

Also, can we talk bathing suits. Shopping for a bathing suit is horrible... they’re either minuscule and something you’d see on the cover of Sports Illustrated or they’re animal prints with rhinestones and big gold hoops. Neither of which are my style. I am looking for something athletic with shorts and a tankini top preferably. I’m hoping finding one won’t be like finding a needle in a haystack. Oh, I am also not wanting to spend $100 for a bathing suit to wear in my backyard... is that asking too much? I haven’t worn a bathing suit in years, so I really don’t know what to expect. We check Old Navy and WM and found absolutely nothing. Well, Mya found a 2nd bathing suit. So we’re at 2 for Mya and 0 for the rest of us.

Onwards... I got absolutely nothing done today work-wise. It’s after 11pm and I need to clean the kitchen then think i’m honestly going to sneak down to my sewing room and get some orders pkg’ed to mail bright & early tomorrow and see what else I can accomplish this late at night. I need to plan out the next few days of sewing as well... tomorrow i’ll definitely have to be on my game and hustle!!

On that note, i’m off!

Do you have any exciting summer plans or trips planned?
